Havedzi vs Sunset title decider to mark March 31

Ghana’s beach soccer leagues return this weekend with the usual thrills and action set to shake La Pleasure Beach Soccer Arena.

This weekend’s fixtures, however, will have that special feel as two different derbies will take place on Saturday, March 31.

Second-placed Havedzi Mighty Warriors will clash with local rivals Keta Sunset Sports in a game that could decide the winner of the CAL Bank Beach Soccer Premier League. The rivalry between these two sides is expected to boil at the highest degree during the match. Both teams are level on points with Sunset occupying the top spot only by goal difference.

Sunset won the first leg of this fixture 2-1 but Warriors captain Innocent Kumensah believes that this weekend’s tie will be in their favour. Kumensah also urged all sports stakeholders to be present at the La Pleasure Beach Soccer Arena to witness the fierce clash.

Meanwhile, Sunset Sports keeper Julius Caesar Beckley has replied to the Mighty Warriors’ bluff. Beckley claims fans should expect another win from Sunset as they are leaving no stone unturned.

In the other derby of the day, landlords Wuo Gbee and Layoca will battle for bragging rights as well as for the maximum points at stake. Layoca managed a 4-3 victory over their neighbours in the first round fixture, but their recent poor run of form means Wuo Gbee have the advantage going into this game. Mathematically, Wuo Gbee have a chance of winning the league. Expect them to fight on till the last Matchday.

After the addition of former U-17 world Cup winner, Kofi Nimo, East Legon Sharks will be looking forward to end their season on a high with victory over Senya Bereku Sharks. The latter will need to win this game to avoid relegation.

In other games Dansoman BSC will play bottom placed Osu Dolphins whilst Ad assurance face off with Tegbi Youth.

Elsewhere in the Clementia Contacto Beach Soccer Division One League, leaders Teshie United will face a tough task maintaining the first position; they’ll play against the rising Blue Whales. Whales are in fourth place, 6 points behind Teshie United.

In other games Tonardo Skillsman Appiah will lead his Golden Eagles side against second-placed Nungua BSC. Third-placed African Angels will lock horns with fifth-placed Gulf Powers.
