He said Ghana is expected to compete in 10 weight categories at this year’s Games and the federation is doing all they can to get the boxers ready for the competition.
He however admitted that it has been challenging but with the support of the current executive board of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF).“Looking at the time we had our congress, it has been a little difficult and challenging for us but our board is doing all they can so that Ghana can get a good representation at the Games,” he said.
Coach Ofori Asare added that the team is currently done with their justifiers and is waiting for the report from the technical committee of the federation to name the final list of boxers for the All Africa Games.
He mentioned that some of the boxers who participated in the justifiers were; Joshua Abubakar Quartey, Sulley Mathias Ngua, Musa Rahman Lawson and Derrick Addotey.
The rest are; Gabriel Quao, Emmanuel Gbedemah, Azumah Mohammed, Sheiku Samir, Shaku Samed, Omar Hassibu, Eric Quam, Kojo Antwi, Jessie Lartey and Majid Quaye.
Coach Asare said he believes the team when selected will be given the needed attention and supports so that they can defend the flag of Ghana whenever they mount the ring in Brazzaville come September
