International Swimming Coaches Clinic

The Ghana Swimming Association would be organizing the 2013 International Swimming Coaches Clinic for beginners in Accra from 24th – 28th June, 2013 at the Lincoln Community School, Abelemkpe, 7am to 2pm daily.

Ghana was chosen among a limited number of 15 African countries by the International Swimming Federation (FINA) to host the Coaching Clinic after successfully participating in the 2nd Edition of FINA World Aquatics Convention, held in Moscow, Russia in October 2012.

A statement from the Secretary General of the Association Williams Kyei noted that the clinic forms part of the 2013 FINA Development Programme. The clinic is aimed at providing the best education in the new trends of training methods in the sport to coaches and other officials so as to teach and produce successful swimmers for the country in International competitions.

The clinic would be conducted by Rick Powers, an experienced certified FINA Coaching Lecturer from the USA over a five-day period including classroom and practical sessions.

Interested participants are required to register at the Ghana Swimming Association Secretariat, Accra Sports Stadium or send their details to swimming@sportscouncil.com.gh and technicaldirectorgsf@gmail.com or contact the Technical Director on +233 24 3106908. The cost of participation is GH¢80.00. Successful participants would be awarded a diploma certified by FINA President.
