India High Commission Republic Day T20 Cricket Tournament

The India High Commission (IHC) as part of its promises in developing cricket in Ghana will organize an India Republic Day T20 Cricket Tournament in partnership with the Ghana Cricket Association (GCA).

 

 

The event which is sponsored by His Excellency, Rajinder Bhag  the commissioner at the India High Commission, majorly is to commemorate the celebration of the India Republic Day which falls on Saturday 26th January 2013.

 


The tournament will be played at the Achimota Cricket Ovals and will feature eight teams namely All Rounders, BGC, Melcom, RAV Solutions, Bel-Aqua, Stallion, Veterans and new comers Accra Titans.

 

A statement from the Association noted that the competition will be played under a knockout system spanning three consecutive Sundays from the 13 to 27th January 2013. The final games will be played a day after the official republic day. Members of the senior and junior national men’s cricket team are expected to feature for their respective clubs as they prepare for major international assignments later in the year.

 

In India, Republic Day is one of the three national holidays commemorates the date on which the Constitution of India came into force replacing the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India on 26 January 1950.

 

This event will be the third competition sponsored by His Excellency, Rajinder Bhagat after successfully supporting the organization of the IHC T2O TOP 4 Tournament and the Diwali Cup last year. He has also proposed to organize a triangular international tournament this year.
