Botswana To Host Wcl Division 7

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced Botswana as the host nation for the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League (WCL) Division 7 tournament.

Ghana is expected to participate in the tournament after qualifying from Division 8 alongside Vanuatu in the same tournament in September this year at Samoa.

The tournament will be held from April 6, 2013 to April 13, 2013 and will be contested by Botswana, Fiji, Germany, Ghana, Nigeria and Vanuatu. The top two sides will qualify for Division 6.

Meanwhile, the Division 6 tournament will be held in Jersey from July 21, 2013 to July 28, 2013 and the top two from Division 7 will join Kuwait, Jersey, Argentina and Bahrain for the competition.

The top two sides from Division 6 will gain promotion to Division 5, which will be held in 2014. The location and dates for Division 5 will be announced in due course.

This is the second time that both Jersey and Botswana have been given the honor of hosting an event that is part of the Pepsi ICC Development Programme.Jersey first staged the WCL Division 5 competition in May 2008, where the host side lost to Afghanistan in the final by two wickets.

Botswana also staged the Division 7 tournament in May 2011, where, in the final, Kuwait beat Nigeria by 72 runs.
