GCA Ends Coaching Course

A two day introductory coaching course in cricket organised by the Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) has ended at Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana.



A total of about 25 participants from the Region took part in the course. They were drawn from the University of Cape Coast, University Practice SHS, Mfantsipim, Methodist High School (Saltpond), St.Augustines, University Primary School, Adisadel College and Mfantsipim Bsaic School.


The reset were; Ghana National College, Adisadel Basic, Holy Child, Ghana National Basic, Wesley Girls, St. Micheal Girls Basic, Mfantsiman Girls and Augustines Basic. Two schools in Saltpond, notably, Mfantsiman Girls School and Methodist High School were included in the programme.


The event was officially opened by the Regional P. E. Coordinator, Mr. S. E. Kotcha-Brew, who thanked the Association for bringing cricket back home and called on participants to take the course with all seriousness.
The participants were taken through through the history and basics of cricket, uses and purposes of cricket equipments; batting, fielding and bowling.


The President of GCA, Dr. William K. Ampofo, reiterated the importance of cricket to the participants and presented certificates of participation to all participants.


Some basic equipment was also given to the Zonal P. E. Coordinator for use by the Basic Schools. Other sets were also given to the Mfantsiman Basic and Adisadel Basic Schools.
