National Swimming Open Championship

The Ghana Swimming Association (GSA) is organizing the “NATIONAL SWIMMING OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS” on Saturday August 11th 2012, at the University of Ghana Swimming Pool, Legon. The Event is scheduled to commence at 7am.



The championship aims to unearth talents, raise awareness of competitive swimming in Ghana and to justify and select swimmers for the 11th African Seniors Swimming Championship to be held in Kenya in September.


Swimmers will compete in Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle and Butterfly stroke for male and female and competing age categories are 17 and above, 15-16 years, 13-14 years, 10-12 years and 6-9 years.


Prospective Participants must produce any of the following identification documents, Birth Certificate, Passport, National ID or Voters ID card to verify their citizenship and age.


The one-day Legon event is open to all swimmers and swimming clubs across the Country and registration is free.


Interested swimmers can register at the Swimming Association Secretariat at the Accra Sports Stadium, Tesano Sports Club or the University of Ghana Swimming Pool from now till the 11th of August, 2012 or send personal details to swimming@sportscouncil.com.gh and 0208763071.


The championship is sponsored by the National Sports Authority and the Ghana Swimming Association.
