Amposah underwent successful surgery on a fractured jaw suffered during the Olympic qualifies and was given the clear by the medical team of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) to participate in the pre-Olympic games training camp.
However, the GABF and the Ghana Olympic Committee decided to err on the side of caution and withdraw him from the games since there are potential complications with his type of injury. Amposah was scheduled to fight against Chinese Xuanxuan Weng.
