Members and stakeholders of the National Paralympics Committee comprising representatives from the Ghana Cycling Federation, National Sports Authority and the Ministry of Youth and Sports had a fruitful deliberation regarding kits and equipments to be used by the Para-athletes.
A statement from the Media coordinator of the National Paralympics Committee Dennis Kweku Moore notes that the Ministry of Youth and Sports is ready to offer any assistance possible and the Sports Authority was also prepared in the details of equipments and kitting.
The National Paralympic team comprises Alem Mumumi-paracycling, Charles Narh-Powerlifting, Botsyo Nkegbe and Anita Fordjour all in Wheelchair Athletics.
The statement further notes that team Ghana will end their camping with Right to Dream on the 10th of August. National camping resumes immediately from there. In that regard two national coaches will be joining the team by next week. The rest of the delegation will follow suit at later date.
The president of the National Paralympic Committee who also doubles as the Chef du Mission for the Paralympics Games –Bishop Adja Cofie is of good wish for the Ghana Olympic Team as their portion of the Games is already underway.
The president is optimistic in the Para contest and believes it is his utmost responsibility to ensure that preparations are not interrupted so as to foster a wonderful performance from the Para team.
The Paralympics will commence on the 29th of August and will end on the 1st of September 2012. Ghana’s participation was for the first time secured through tough trial qualifications and not on wild card.
The communications outfit of the Paralympics Committee-the official mouthpiece of the Paralympic Games, will officially furnish the media on progress of the team before, during and after the games as it is the hope of the Committee that Ghana’s drought in medal search will be broken in these years’ Games.
Meanwhile the Committee wishes to share in the grief of the demise of our late dear president H.E Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills. Our unmeasured condolence goes to the wife and the family. May his soul rest in peace.
