GCA organises Girls Cricket Tournament & ICC Hardball Coaching Course

The Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) will organize its first Girls Cricket Tournament for the year
From the 30th June 1" July 2012 at the Achimota Cricket Oval.



A statement from the association noted that the competition is to identify, and select skillful, discipline and talented players to form the back bone of the national cricket team. The competition also  forms part of GCA's contribution to encourage the participation of women and girls playing cricket which is in line with African Cricket Association (ACA) and International Cricket Council's (ICC) target of One million Females by 2015 in the Africa Sub Region and the world at large.



Participating teams are   Akosombo Girls Select XI, Anunmle Cluster Girls XI, Obuasi Girls Select XI, Roval, Diadem Girls Team, Achimota SHS Girls Team and the Kumasi Girls SHS Team



Meanwhile, the GCA will host an International Cricket Coaching Official, Okon Ukpong who willengaage about fifteen prospective coaches selected across the country in a Hardball Level 1 Coaching Course from the 7th to 8th July 2012 at the Achimota Cricket Oval and Gym Premises. Ukpong is expected to arrive from Nigeria on Friday, July 6th
