Rugby Association in Fund Raising Exercise

The Ghana Rugby Association (GBA) in partnership with Kingdom Support Services (KSS) is embarking on a major fund raising exercise throughout the month of September.

The aim of the exercise is to improve the Game Nationwide and also assist the Association to realize its two-year strategic plan.

The Statement from the Association noted that the Exercise was necessitated by the persistent inability of the Association to meet its financial commitments due to the overdependence on Government and a few sponsors.

The statement further noted that the Association is  yet  to organize its Regional and Interregional tournaments scheduled for August 2011 as  funds approved by Government is yet to  be released adding that their financial woes has also  contributed to the inability of the Association to become a full member of the International Rugby Board which when achieved will lessen the financial burden on the Association through the acquisition of development grants.

The Fund raising exercise will be officially launched on Friday 23rd September 2011 at the Media Center of the Accra Sports Stadium at 10:00am.

As part of the launch, the Association will auction a number of unique and priceless souvenirs which include signed jerseys and balls by international rugby icons like Mike Catt and Paul Sackey to mention a few.

The Statement appealed to Corporate Bodies and Individual who will be contacted in the course of the exercise to support Ghana rugby in whatever small way they can.
