Tennis : Greater Accra Defeats Upper East

Greater Accra Region proved their superiority in the Tennis discipline of the on-going National Unity Games by beating their opponents from the Upper East Region.

In the Boys category, Benjamin Fumi and Frank Effah defeated Ramsey Sampana and Matthew Nyaaba to 7-6, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-2 respectively in the singles while Stephen Nortey and Frank Effah also silenced Ramsey Sampana and Matthew Nyaaba to 6-3, 6-1another two straight wins in the boys’ double.
 
 
Gabriel Atteh and Albert Tetteh from the Central Region also won their singles by beating Muinankuma Hayford and Haruna Adinam from the Upper West Region by 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 respectively. The central region reps joined hands to beat Abdul Karim Iddrisu and Haruna Adinam on 6-0, 6-1in the doubles.
 
 
Ashanti Regional representative, Emmanuel Kusi-Joe recorded his region’s first defeat from Francis Akpese from Brong Ahafo Region on 6-0, 6-1but Francis Kubi also from Ashanti Region restored the region’s glory by beating Robert Mensah from the Brong Ahafo Region on 6-3, 6-3. However, Francis Kubi and Andrew Twum were once again defeated by Francis Akpese and Robert Mensah on a 6-3, 6-3.
 
 
In the Girls Category, Francisca Nyarko and Miriam Ibrahim from the Central Region demoralized Stephanie Adu-Gyamfi and Esther Boateng on a 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0 respectively. The team from Central Region defeated Lucy Multiby and Stephanie Adu-Gyamfi on 6-2, 6-2.
 
 
Earlier on, host region were defeated by their regional rivals Ashanti. Stephanie Adu-Gyamfi defeated Mariam Blepo on 6360 in the singles while Abigail Aryeetey from Accra defeated Esther Boateng from Kumasi on 6360. In their doubles, Abigail Aryeetey and Mariam Blepo were beaten by Lucy Multiby and Esther Boateng on 6-2, 4-6 and 6-2.
