Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) Receives Junior Development Equipment from Gt. Accra kickboxing Association.

As part of efforts to increase grassroots participation and sustain playing of cricket the Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) received a set of Junior Development Equipment from the Greater Accra Kickboxing Association (GAKBA) on the 5th March 2012. This will contribute to the enrollment of new cricketers in Ghana in line with the Cricket Development targets of 2015 set by the ICC –Africa Region. cricket_inner

The equipment Included Seventy Three (73) Junior Bakers Bats and Forty Three (43) mobile stumps.

The donation ceremony took place at the Media Centre, Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, 5th March 2012. Present at the ceremony were Mr. Nadim Hozaisef, President, Greater Accra Kickboxing Association (Donor), Mr. Wolanyo Agra, Director General, National Sports Authority, some members of the GCA and some journalists.


In his remarks,  Mr. Hozaisef said his passion for cricket dates back many years and he is committed in supporting lesser known sports in the country.  Special Guest of the ceremony, Director General of the National Sports Authority, Mr. Wolanyo Agra said he is pleased with this support among local associations and hoped that the equipment will be used to promote the game that he enjoyed in his youth. He commended the ICC – Africa Regional Office for their immense support in promoting the game on the African Continent.

The GCA expressed its sincere appreciation to the GAKBA for this timely  donation and urged other stakeholders and corporate organizations to also support the cricket development programme in
