The President’s Challenge Cup was introduced in November, 2009 as the Annual Chairman’s Challenge Cup. It was played in honour of the Association’s President (then Chairman) and as part of activities to continuously develop and promote the sport of hockey.
In 2010, the competition was renamed the President’s Challenge Cup in line with developments in the sports landscape of the country. The Ghana Hockey Association is privileged once again to organise the President’s Challenge Cup from 5th March- 1st April, 2011 at the National Hockey Stadium.
In view of this therefore, the Ghana Hockey Association will launch the PRESIDENT’S CHALLENGE CUP 2011 on Thursday 17th March, 2011 at 5:00pm at the National Hockey Stadium.
The tournament which is invitational will be played by clubs in the ladies, men and seniors category drawn from the Greater Accra Hockey league.
The launch will throw more light on the competition and offer the media the opportunity to acquire additional knowledge to facilitate a strong partnership for coverage during the event.
The competition is sponsored by the President of the Association and it is expected that representatives of the sponsoring institution, stakeholders, invited clubs, technical officials and the hockey family will be present at the launch.
