The Association intends to organize the Championship annually. This year’s championship was opened to all Tennis clubs and Financial Institutions and was also used to inaugurate the newly refurbished tennis courts at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium as well as commemorate Ghana’s 53rd independence anniversary celebrations.
The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Nii Nortey Dua, with assistance from the Board Chairman, Chief Executive and Chief Admin. Officer of the National Sports Council as well as officials of the Ghana Tennis Association officially cut the ribbon to open the newly refurbished tennis courts and watched the final game.

UBI Petroleum & Energy was the major sponsor of the Championship. They presented a cheque for GH¢5,000.00 (Five Thousand, Ghana Cedis) to the associations towards tournament.
Presenting the cheque, Emily Mantey, head of strategy of the company expressed gratitude to the association for giving UBI the opportunity to be part of such a prestigious tournament. She expressed the company’s readiness to provide the court with a score-board and T-shirts towards the tournament.
Other sponsors were Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), who also donated GH¢ 2,000.00 (Two Thousand Ghana Cedis) for the tournament.
Bamson Company, ALISA Hotels and SIC Insurance Company were also sponsors.
The Accra Lawn Tennis Club (ALTC) team was crowned championships of tournament.
The team beat the Accra Stadium Tennis Club (ASTC) 7-4 after a marathon tennis showdown that saw the ASTC battle the accurate and very fast pace serves of the ALTC team.
In the semi-final fixtures, the Army Officers team was defeated 7-0 by ALTC, while ASTC defeated Alisa 7-3.
