The novelty training camp is the brainchild of the Ghana Table Tennis Association’s SWAG Award winning Secretary General and a Principal Sports Development Officer of the National Sports Council, Mr. Kwame Amponfi Jnr.
At the launch, Mr Agra commended the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) for the initiative and promised the council and the Sports Ministry’s continued support for such progressive training programmes.
He advised the players to be disciplined and train hard to justify the government’s investment in the sport.
Mr. Agra appealed to companies and philanthropists to join the sponsors of the programme, Mr., Samuel Tobin, CEO or Tobinco Pharmaceuticals, J.A. Biney & Co. Ltd and Mr. Kwabena Dei, CEO of Mallas Ice Company, who donated GH¢2,000, GH¢500 and Training Camp T-Shirts respectively.

This he said was to keep the nation’s Under-15, U-18 and senior nucleus teams active throughout the year to make the players battle-ready for all future international competitions.
The association’s Chairman, Squadron Leader (Rtd) Ebo Bartels, entreated both camp coaches and players to be dedicated to the objectives of the programme to enable Ghana table tennis to regain its past glory.
