Team Ghana emerged the overall winners of the 5-nation tournament with a total of 6 medals (4 Gold & 2 Bronze). In all, five countries participated in the West African championship. They included Benin (host), Burkina Faso, Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire and Togo.

Ghana’s table tennis team was sponsored by the National Sports Council, the Ministry of Youth & Sports and TV3 Network Limited. The team was refreshed on their way back home by Mr. Thomas Kuenyefu, a GTTA Executive members and Manager of Hotel Vicabamba in Denu.
The Ghana Table Tennis Association expresses its gratitude to the proud sponsors particularly; the CEO of the National Sports Council Mr. Wolanyo K. Agra and his management team as well as the Ghanaian media in general for the support before, during and after the championship. Indeed but for the sponsors, the historic 4 Gold and 2 Bronze Medals would not have been won for mother Ghana.

The Association hopes, in line with the policy of the new Chief Executive of the National Sports Council, the team would be given the appropriate winning bonuses for their second successive amazing performance in the 2009 sporting year.

GTTA humbly requests for cash and kind sponsorship from companies and philanthropists to help speed up the growth and development of table tennis in Ghana.
