Ghana Strikes Table Tennis Equipment Deal

The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has struck a table tennis equipment deal with the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) through the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF).

The deal involves the supply of table tennis tables and other materials to the GTTA effective 2010.

The sponsorship deal was reached through petitions initiated by Mr Kwame Amponfi Jnr, the Secretary General of the GTTA, and Vice President of Africa Table Tennis Federation Zone III at separate Congresses of the Africa and World Federations attended recently in Egypt and Yokohama respectively by the Chairman and Secretary General of the GTTA.

It will be recalled that in 2008 at the same congress, the Chairman of the Association, Sqn. Ldr. Ebo Bartels (Rtd), also succeeded in securing 10 new table tennis tables and accessories worth $10,000 from a Chinese table tennis enthusiast, Mr Patrick Chu, for the promotion of the sport locally.

The International Table Tennis Federation had until recently been very supportive to Ghana with the organization of coaching courses, as well as equipment supply.

The resumption of the major equipment supply by the ITTF will go a long way to support the initiative of GOC and NSC to develop table tennis in Ghana.
