The event attracted a total number of thirty (30) participants from the various halls and over sixty (60) chess fans came to supports their hall representatives.
A total of 5 games were played in all and at below are the results:
Richard Gabah came up 1st with a total win of 5 points out of 5 games played,
Tsiboe Francis came up 2nd with a total win of 4 ½ out of 5 games played and
Asamoah Obed, Saaka Felix and Nortey Nii Noi Issac, all came up 3rd position with a total win of 4 points out of the 5 games played.
The event was aimed at unearthing new chess talent, preparing for the up coming National Sports Festival and African Chess School Championship to be hosted in Accra, Ghana this year and most especially the All African Games in Maputo, Mozambique, September, 2011, were all achieved.
The University of Ghana chess club in collaboration with the Ghana Chess Association appreciate the good works of the Chief Executive and all Management Staffs of the National Sports Council, the University of Ghana Sports Directorate especially Mr. Chewi and Mr. Rahman, Members of the Ghana Chess Association and our Media Partners in making this Year’s University of Ghana Open Chess Championship a success.
