Bennet Kpentey Still Heads Ghana Scrabble Association

Mr. Bennet Kpentey, the immediate past Chairman of the Ghana Scrabble Association has been returned unopposed as the new President of the Association and the head of a 4-member management Board for a four-year period.

At the Association’s first delegates congress held at the SSNIT GUEST HOUSE on 17th July 2010. Players from all over the regions came to the congress.

Indeed, all the officers were elected unopposed. Mr. Placca Chrys was elected Vice-President, Michael Quao, Association Treasury and Miss Christine Ashley, Secretary General as members of the Scrabble management board.

Earlier, delegates had discussed and approved a new Constitution for the Association. They also adopted a motion to abolish the old executive board.

The new management board was sworn in by the Senior Sports development Officer, a representative of the National Sports Council, Mr. R.O. Lamptey who assured the Scrabble fraternity of the unflinching support of his establishment.

In his acceptance speech, the new President, Mr Bennet Kpentey thanked delegates and members of the Association for the honour done him. He pledged to execute vigorously the two-year development plan the association had put in place. He said he was committed to ensuring that the next generation of scrabble players should be given all the necessary support and encouragement to practice the sport.
