Kelly Gunterman, Director of Tennis at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation in Florida, USA and Founder of “Tennis without Borders” foundation, will be visiting Ghana from Thursday, 13 – 20, January 2011.

During the weeklong visit, the professional tennis coach will hold workshop for coaches at 10:30am, followed by the tennis clinics(Youth Tennis Day) for 16 and under age category at 1:30pm on the 14th and 15th of January 2011 at the Accra Sports Stadium Tennis Courts.

Kelly Gunterman and the Ghanaian coaches will organize some playtime with the youth and talk to them about opportunities for tennis scholarships at US universities and the professional tennis tour. Tennis coaches and trainers; junior tennis players, learners and parents who want their children to learn Tennis are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to experience tennis with the highly rated professional Coach.

The Pro Coach will also pay a four-day visit to the National Junior Tennis Team currently in camp at the National Sports College in Winneba preparing for the upcoming West & Central Africa Junior Championship Qualifiers.

Having worked with some of the top names in the teaching world, Gunterman started his own tennis school in 1991. He fulfilled a long held dream in August of 2009 when he founded Tennis without Borders to help children in developing countries with tennis instruction and equipment.

Mr. Gunterman also wears an additional cap as the Director of Tennis at the Summit Lodge, near Killington Vermont.  His visit to Ghana is in line with the foundations goal of sharing tennis, for healthy borders.

Mr. Gunterman said:I am very excited about my first visit to Ghana and would offer some of what I have learned in the tennis business to the tennis playing children and young adults in Ghana.

The programme is being sponsored by Ivory Financial Ltd, and supported by Inocon Construction Group, Frontline Financial Advisors, International Travel Exchange and the National Sports Council. The Ghana Tennis Association is collaborating with Mr. David Otu Nyarko, a Ghanaian tennis enthusiast based in the United States, and Chairman of Board of the Inocon Group to facilitate the visit.

The Association also wishes to remind all that it remains strict on proper tennis dress code on court.
